Imagination: Dream your way to success

blue eye in macro with earth mapAlbert Einstein once said “Imagination is a preview of life’s coming attractions”. The power of imagination is that we have the ability to create in any way we choose- without limitations, fears or doubts.

In imagination, possibilities are endless and we construct images of how we’d like our ideal life to be.

Many personal development authors and entrepreneurs have championed the power of imagination, as well as famous sports stars, actors and singers. They used their imagination so much that they began to believe success was around the corner.

They could feel it- and their body believed it. It is an established scientific fact that the brain does not know the difference between a real or an imagined picture. This is demonstrated in the use of brain computer interfaces, whereby our brain waves are the same as to whether we are thinking about moving an object, for example, or actually doing it.

Imagination suggests that the capacity for the human mind to create is limitless. It is only our conscious pre-conceived beliefs that may stop us from getting there. Willis Harman, a respected author, once said “Perhaps the only limits to the human mind are those we believe in”.

If you remember, as a child, you practically lived in your imagination. The line between reality and fantasy was blurred- if something wasn’t there, you’d create it in your mind. Children have no limitations, no limiting beliefs that they can’t do something.

Over time however, your conscious mind suppressed your imagination and it no longer had a use for you in your life. Imagination was left to the ‘creative’ people, who drew on their inspiration to create.

Using your imagination seems impossible in what seems to be a limited world. But what if your imagination, the creative potentials of your mind, could actually be a potent force in shaping your experience?

What if using your imagination could condition your mind to expect success?

What if, when using your imagination, your sense of what is possible broadened?

Maybe it’s time to find out…
